The 2022 World Invite was held September 9-13 at the USSSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, FL. 21 of the best teams from across the USA, Canada, PR, and DR competed in this tournament. This blog post serves to recognize the best uncommitted players I watched while scouting the event.
This is my "Top 5" from the 2022 World Invite:
1. ('23,FL) RHP Enrique Sierra of Elite Squad
6' 165lbs coming from a H3/4. Sierra was the big stand out of the week. Power arm with true starter stuff available. He was comfortable wheeling the hard BB out often with CBish vertical depth; upper 7s with ~2700 RPMs. FB ranged 88-93 on the night; held 90-91 mostly.
2. ('23,SC) 3B/RHP Zack Hunt of Wow Factor Coastal
6'1" 215lbs. One of the best uncommitted power bats still on the market. Holds a physical presence and attacks with power to the deep part of the field. Has proven to produce in-game against "all walks of pitching" over the last couple weeks in Charlotte and Viera.
3. ('23,FL) OF Steven Farina of FL Dodgers Scout Team
5'11" 160lbs. Uber athletic CFer with 5 tool upside. Good idea at the plate with an uphill path and some twitch. Good on the bases with elite speed that works defensively as well. Arm plays too.
4. ('23,FL) OF Zaid Diaz of Elite Squad
5'11" 190lbs. Is up there right with Zack Hunt as one of the best available power bats at this time. Above average tools defensively with wheels for a stockier build; sub 6.9 60. Bat is surely one to check out for majority of schools still in need of an impact hitter.
5. ('23,FL) RHP Aidan McBride of FTB Teams
6'1" 160lbs. There’s just a bit to like about a high spin guy like McBride. Breaker in the mid 7s has exceeded 3K RPMs; lives mostly 2500-2700. FB is at ~2400 RPMs and has been up to 90; mostly 87-88. The stuff plays; whether it’s spin or not he generates a lot of whiffs.
