The C5T Summer Showcase was held last weekend on August 13th-14th at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA. Participants included uncommitted prospects from 2023-2025 HS graduates to current JUCO players. This blog post will highlight some of the top performers from this past weekend.
This is my "Top 5" from the 2022 C5T Summer Showcase:
6'2" 170lbs. Clean efficient arm action with a noticeable proficient moving scapular load, and an elbow that works to and stays at a higher cocked position. The lead leg works/blocks efficiently as well. Quality work in 3 IP; he posted 6 K’s. Went to the FB/BB combo often. Was up to 90 on 3 pitches; ranged the FB 85-89 for most of the outing. Showed a great feel for the BB (which had slurve shape), and had the ability to go to it in any count at 74-77. Added a 3rd pitch to the arsenal in the CH that was 78-81; unreal spin spotted at ~957 RPM’s. Hank won't be uncommitted for long with his current FB velo, command, upside, and an already established 3-pitch mix.
2. ('23,VA) INF Kelly Crittenberger
6' 185lbs. May have been the most well-rounded prospect at the showcase. Really shined offensively in gameplay with multiple XBH’s showing great barrel control. Defensively he was very sound. Displayed an accurate arm that was in the 80s across the diamond. High level IQ and a great teammate. Also sported the top 60 at 6.73.
5’11” 170lbs. Huge upside SS here in Thomas. Showcase standout from the get-go with a 6.9 60 while running it up to 97 on the EV with the bat; also popped 2 bomb’s at 374’ and 385’. Then in live play he started out hot again while covering the 6-4 hole from short. Legit defensive tool between both the range and the touch with the glove. Also translated the showcase metrics to both the bat and on to the base-paths in game; caught several barrels and stole a few bags.
4. ('23,PA) C Antonio Cordeiro
6’0” 180lbs. Defensive catcher who received well and manipulated the ball; also caught an unfamiliar staff well. Above average arm with accuracy; 2.03 PT and 75 down. Bat came out to play in live action with a couple of barrels. In BP he peaked with a 92 exit and 341’ carry.
Strong 5’10” 170lb build. Bat plays. Physical swing from the right side with bat speed that yielded consistent 90 EV’s and that got up to 97; carried one 360’ in BP. Average in the field.
