The 2022 Mid-Atlantic Fall Classic was held October 7-9 in the Baltimore-Annapolis area. This blog post serves to recognize the best uncommitted players--at the time of this event--I watched while scouting the event.
This is my "Top 5" from the 2022 Mid-Atlantic Fall Classic:
1. ('23,MD) RHP Kyle Emmons of API Cavs
6'3" 190lbs. There is not a whole lot of 2023 arms with the ability to spot 3 pitches with this kind of build still showcasing on the travel circuit. He found the zone and competed. The mound velo has been up to 90 before. Topped 89 here with 78 SL and 81 CH. Definitely a guy to look into for schools who still have ‘23 pitcher needs.
2. **Rhode Island Commit** ('24,MD) LHP Luke Pearre of Mid-Atlantic Red Sox
5’10” 160lbs. True pitcher attributes with swing and miss, high strike%, and +confidence. Worked quick off of a tough FB/CB tunnel; s+m came with the FB starting strike and ending ball and the opposite with the breaker.
3. ('24,MD) OF Liam Irving of DMV Prospects
5'11" 180lbs. Just an energetic offensive showing on Friday night. Temperature dipped, but Irving found 2 loud barrels to the pull side. Found situational success at the plate and showed above average wheels. Excellent student.
4. ('24,MD) INF Calvin Cook of Mid-Atlantic Red Sox
5’10” 170lbs. Just great feel on both sides of the ball. Finds barrels with a loose and consistent lefty hack. Moves through the ball with a sense of urgency from the middle infield. Solid ceiling and follow with added strength and size.
5. ('24,VA) RHP Gary Tompkins of Stars Baseball
6'3" 175lbs. Did damage going right at guys and getting quick outs; notched 8Ks on the 4 inning W. Really like the upside here with the overall raw actions. He has been up to 88. With development and the addition of more efficient drive leg actions and a drift, breaking 90 is not a lofty goal for Tompkins. Good student.
