Louisville, KY - The 2023 Louisville Open was held on June 7th-11th at various venues in the greater Louisville area. This article serves to recognize my favorite uncommitted players I watched while scouting the event.
At the end of the page we catch up on last year's group and where they stand now.
Here is my "Top 5" from the 2023 Louisville Open:
1. Caleb Anderson ('24,ND) of West Fargo Patriots - Anderson stole the show last week with a true 7-inning no-hit performance. Caleb sported a legit splitter--in the low 70s--that was paired with his FB up to 90. Quality 2024 follow for schools looking for HS arms.

Caleb Anderson ('24,ND) • 6'2" 170lbs. 7IP, 12Ks, and 0 hits on the CGSO. Ran FB to 90 and ranged 85-89. The go-to secondary was the sharp SPL at 72-74. Flashed SL, but didn't need to use it a ton. #Uncommitted at this time. #LouisvilleOpen pic.twitter.com/oArjijx4OW
2. Lucas Hail ('25,KY) of USA Prime 16U - Advanced actions and a mature presence was on full display during Hail's start at the Louisville Open. Present mobility via pelvis/shoulder dissociation at front foot plant. Lucas throws everything hard and competes. Battled through some hits, slight command issues, etc. and showed lots to like in spite of that. Potential college starter guy with added size.

Lucas Hail ('25,KY) • 5'10" 165lbs. Uses frame well and picks up speed down the slope. Good velo showing through 2IP; FB 86-88, BB 71-75, and CH 80. Also posted 100Ks for @MeadeBaseball this spring. Pitches with high intent. #LouisvilleOpen … pic.twitter.com/M89viLHIrU
3. Brandin Crawford ('24,KY) of KBC Prime 17U - One of Brandin's coaches said that nobody knows about Brandin since he is off the beaten path in Clay County, Kentucky. It was clear that Crawford doesn't have a small town mentality and put on a great starter showing at the Louisville Open. He showed no signs of letting off of the gas while going 6 shut-out frames. Brandin used his top velo range throughout; turned it up when he wanted to. The cutter in the mid 8s with sharp HB was a fun pitch to watch and gave a nice dimension to his arsenal. D1 recruit.
Brandin Crawford ('24,KY) • 6'3" 215lbs. Mostly 87-89 with a few 90s on 6 dominant shut-out IP. Good FC in the mid 8s. Gets GB/late contact if any. Landed BB. Under the radar arm and mid 9s FB projection. Also sports HR ability with the bat. #LouisvilleOpen @Kybaseballclub pic.twitter.com/UelD8nMTB5

4. Grant Keffaber ('25,OH) of Ohio Heat - Here is a polished rising junior arm from Lebanon HS. Grant worked his way around some hits and slight damage early on, but really threw his best stuff as he stayed out there. Be on the lookout for more MPH coming from the 6' 170lb Ohio RHP.
Grant Keffaber ('25,OH) • Bit of s/m on the CH/SL; SL got up to 77. FB climbed to 87 towards the end of his appearance; mostly 85 on the day. Good OVR P feel/confidence. More velo otw. #Uncommitted at this time. #LouisvilleOpen @heat_ohio pic.twitter.com/q3Yjr2ZvvF

5. Evan Cooke ('23,IN) of PRP Mambas - 6'4" 215lbs. Showed some resiliency at the Louisville Open by bouncing back from a sub-par outing with a solid appearance. Cooke has a high velo ceiling and has ran FB to 92 before. Look for velo bumps and higher quality outings this summer and leading into next spring.
Evan Cooke ('23,IN) • High follow 6'4" 215lb arm from @PRPMambas. Upper 8s yesterday with some cmd issues. Bounced back today, tunneled the mix, and got the save on 1.1 IP; FB T89. Has T92 prior. High academic. #Uncommitted for now. #LouisvilleOpen pic.twitter.com/x1PZuC0Qhf

2022 Louisville Open Uncommitted Legg's Top 5 Update:
1. Cody Kantz ('22,IN) of PRP Mambas - Current St. Charles CC player. Recorded 3 HR in his true freshman year.
2. Charlie Alonso ('23,FL) of TBT Swarm - Still uncommitted. Although a below avg. senior season, Alonso still checks a lot of boxes. Charlie will be a solid late add for a school searching for an OF/LHH.
3. Ryan Johnson ('24,KY) of KBC Prime - WKU commit. Johnson was at Scout Series - Florida with FTB Phillies; approach and swing is still there and looked improved in comparison to last year.
4. Carson Van Haaren ('24,KY) of KBC Prime - EKU commit. Like Johnson, Carson also made the trip to Dunedin last week with the FTB Phillies. Van Haaren continued to look sharp on the bump.
5. Aaron Robinson ('24,KY) of KBC Blue - WKU commit. Aaron finished 2nd in punch-outs within his region this past spring; he also recorded an absurd 0 XBH across 183 BF.
