TVG: Scouting Notes

Day 2

#Uncommitted
Brantley Truitt
(‘23,North Carolina)
5 Star Carolina National

Truitt is an exciting young player with a ton of upside… Has above average tools on the offensive side.. At the plate, Truitt has an aggressive approach, looks to hit early in the count. Very quick hands with feel for the barrel, can spray the ball to all fields.. Very good runner, speed really translates on the bases, glides from HP to 3B, hits the corners well.. Truitt can go get it in the OF, tracks balls well.. Accurate arm with carry.. Profiles as a top of the order bat that can get it done anywhere in the OF.

#Uncommitted
Nehemiah Drew
(‘23,North Carolina)
Precision Showcase

Very athletic LHH/OF with tools that could turn + as he continues to develop..Twitchy strength at the plate with the ability to go with the pitch to all fields, hands are quick through the zone, comfortable letting the ball travel and going to the backside, has also shown some big pop to the pull-side in game action. Young ‘23 that will continue to create some buzz around his name.

#Longwood Commit
Dallas Hairfield
(‘22, Virginia)
Richmond Braves

Hairfield really impressed me here at the #TVG, live young arm that really attacks hitters with a legit 2 pitch mix. FB was 86-89 with sneaky life, lives at the knees, works in and out to both RHH’s and LHH’s, can land the breaker for strikes consistently. Delivery is quick and athletic, really gets into the legs and drives down the mound, body is a bit undersized but the athleticism and arm action make up for it.. Very nice pickup for Longwood.

#Uncommitted
Will McCausland
(‘22,Pennsylvania)
FTB Mid Atlantic

Solid RHP with fluent AA, moves down the mound well, throws all pitches with intent.. Delivery projects for a jump in velo and action on pitches.. Long arm path but works quick, comes from a H3/4 slot, ball really gets on hitters quick.. FB was up to 88 with some run to it, maintains AA when going to the CB at 78, can also turn over an above avg CH at 76 with some fade.

#Uncommitted
Dylan Smith
(‘22, North Carolina)
Canes Central

6’4 RHP with a simple delivery that he repeats well, short and compact AA with some arm speed to it, FB up to 88 with some run, into RHH’s.. CB checks in at 75 with late break, misses a ton of barrels with it, also flashed a solid CH with some parachute action to it. Solid ‘22 arm still on the board.

#Uncommitted
Peyton Young
(‘23, North Carolina)
Carolina Rockies

Very interesting LHH/SS, violent but controlled swing, creates some natural lift to the path.. Really showed the ability to compete on both sides of the ball, really got into some balls at the plate, when he is on time the ball jumps off the bat.. Barrel works through the middle of the field.. In the INF, Young moves well, plays the hop with sure hands up the middle.

Day 1

#Uncommitted
Ismael Borrero
(‘22, West Virginia)
Huntington Hounds

Really like what Ismael Borrero brings to the table.. Low effort delivery from a L ¾ slot, whippy arm that really explodes after foot strike. Borrero has a ton of feel and moxy on the mound, always seems to be in control. FB held 86-89 (2200spin) with a ton of arm side run to RHH’s, mixed in an above average SL with horizontal shape at 75-77 (2100spin).. Dual sport guy who is also a standout QB on the gridiron.. Can see Borrero being an impact arm at the next level for a solid program.

#Uncommitted
Dylan Palmer
(‘22, New Jersey)
Time To Sign Scout

Dylan Palmer brings a ton of energy to the table on both sides of the ball.. Does the little things right, active feet up the middle, clean hands with a quick transfer and moves well laterally. At the plate, Palmer is a LH hitter with a handsy approach and feel for the barrel. Sure handed MIF, a bit undersized at this time but will bring value to the right program in the future.

#Uncommitted
Carter Dierdorf
(‘22, Florida)
East Coast Dodgers Scout

Dierdorf is a very solid LHH from Bradenton, FL.. Simple approach from the left side, doesn’t try to do too much, minimal movement pre pitch, body has some quick twitch, hands are fast through the zone.. Has shown the ability to square the ball up to all fields with authority, versatile defender who can play the OF or 1B. Strong ‘22 to follow moving forward.

#Uncommitted
Ryan Gargett
(‘23, Florida)
East Coast Dodgers Scout

Ryan Gargett continues to swing a hot bat on the summer circuit, advanced body and approach for his age.. Strong and balanced setup, leg kick load, really lets the hands fire through the zone, barrel stays through the middle of the field, when he is on time, the ball really jumps off the bat to all fields.. Gargett is also an above average defender behind the plate with a strong, accurate arm down to 2B.

#Uncommitted
Matthew Spada
(‘22, Connecticut)
Time To Sign Scout

Spada is a polished LHP from CT with clean, repeatable mechanics. Arm works quick from a H3/4 slot, FB primarily low to mid 8s with some run to it. Really showed the ability to land spin to both RH and LH hitters. Looks comfortable and poised on the mound, delivery projects for more velo and action as he continues to add strength to the frame.

#Uncommitted
Mason Howell
(‘22, North Carolina)
Team Elite American

Mason Howell put on a clinic here on day 1 of the #TVG.. 6 innings pitched with 14ks, allowing only 2 hits en route to a win for his club.. Violent delivery from the left side, throws with a ton of intent, FB was primarily low to mid 8s with sneaky life, effective CB at 68, maintains AA.. Turns over the CH at 73 with some fade to it. High intensity arm to follow as he continues to make jumps.

#Uncommitted
James Masterson
(‘22, North Carolina)
Team Elite American

Masterson had a very productive day at the plate for Team Elite American, going 3-4 with 3 hard hit singles, really works deep into counts and saw a ton of pitches, showed the ability to fight pitches off until he got his.. Masterson also showed above average speed on both the bases and in the outfield, takes efficient routes to the ball. Solid overall follow to check out at #TVG

#Uncommitted
Luke Yoon
(‘23, North Carolina)
East Coast Dodgers Scout

Yoon showed very well here at day 1 of #TVG, hitting a deep HR in game 1 of his double header, showing some big juice for his age. Compact and low to the ground at the plate, gets into the lower half well, strong wrists at contact. Behind the plate, Yoon is a grinder who can really stick it, beats the ball to the spot and presents well to the umpire. Hard nosed guy who hustles on both sides of the ball.
